Razer’s original Deathstalker Keyboard series was launched almost 10 years ago and is an unintentional submission to the company’s keyboard game. Named after one of the deadliest scorpions in the world, Deathstalker is a chiclet -style membrane keyboard that feels wrong place in the market for gamers even though there is a series of distinctive features. A few years later, Razer improved that by reviving the series under the Deathstalker V2 portfolio from the low profile optical keyboard. This includes Deathstalker V2, Dealystalker V2 Pro, and Dealystalker V2 Pro Tenkeyless.
The new Deathstalker V2 keyboard features Razer’s optical switches in a low profile configuration. The keyboard with an optical switch, similar to a traditional mechanical keyboard, uses an individual switch for each key. However, while the mechanical switch uses physical contacts to register button pressure, optical keyboard using an infrared light to find out when the button is pressed. Lack of physical contact in the optical switch is translated into a smoother and more linear key trip than a mechanical switch. This characteristic makes the ideal optical switch to play games.
Low and high -performance keyboard
Speaking of Razer Deathstalker V2 specifically, the company offers two switch options: Linear (most likely red) and Clicky (Blue). The switch has a 2.8mm main trip and the value of the actual point is only 1.2mm for linear and 1.5mm for the Clicky switch. This distance is about two-thirds compared to those using a full-sized keyboard switch. As a typical of the optical keyboard switch, the low profile switch from Razer also has a very long life from nearly 70 million pressing the button.
The Deathstalker V2 Pro keyboard is available in wireless configurations and uses Razer’s hyperspeed’s hyperspeed wireless protocol for super fast connection. It still requires you to attach a USB dongle to your computer. But if you don’t want to do that, Deathstalker V2 Pro and V2 Pro Tenkeyless also supports Bluetooth 5.0 for universal and truly wireless connectivity. Both models can be attached to three devices simultaneously and switch between them smoothly by pressing one button.
On a wireless connection, Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro has a battery life of up to 40 hours, while the Deathstalker V2 Pro Tenkeyless runs 10 hours longer, recording a total of 50 hours of battery reserves. For games where every millisecond is very important, you can rely on a USB Type-C cable grouped to fill and use the Deathstalker V2 Pro variant directly.
The same maintenance for cable and wireless variants
Meanwhile, the Vanilla variant of Razer Deathstalker V2 jumped over wireless connectivity but offers similar features in all other ways. This model gets a USB type-C cable that can be removed like his siblings. Standard features on all Razer Deathstalker V2 keyboard include aluminum top casing, ABS keycaps that interact with laser, n-key rollover, and adjusted RGB lighting.
