Researchers from the University of Bath, led by Georgina Bunker, have discovered evidence that the ancient plesiosiosiosiurus, which was previously considered a marine animal, may also evolve to live in fresh water. This study was published in the Journal of Crustaceous Research and detailed the discovery of the Plesiosaurus fossil in the Kem African River. This includes several bones and teeth around a dozen of the telesiosaurus that lives in fresh water. Another researcher about the project, Nick Longrich, suggested that Plesiosaurus can adapt to fresh water from time to time similar to river dolphins.

But what does that have to do with Nessie?

Plesiosaur is a creature that is usually believed to be the most likely to be suitable for one of the most famous cryptids in human history: Loch Ness Monster, or “Nessie,” from Loch Ness Lake in Scotland. Previously, the idea that there might be plesiosiosiurus in the lake relatively easily denied by the fact that no evidence was found about plesiosiosiurus that lived in other freshwater bodies, throughout the whole history that was known.

But now, as suggested by a press release from the University of Bath, this new research makes the story of Nessie a little more “make sense.” Hunters of mythical creatures and people -believe Nessie has one more reference point for their list of reasons why Plesiosaurus can live in Loch Ness. There is only one relatively large problem with this line of thought.

The Plesiosiurus died for a long time

Plesiosaurus is an ancient creature, the last known to have existed with dinosaurs. The consensus, according to fossil records, is that the last plesiosiosiosiur died about 66 million years ago. There is still hope that this creature can live in secret, avoiding humans for millions of years – but changes effectively zero. Some extinct creatures have been known effectively again after they are considered truly extinct by humans. Creatures found in this way are classified as Lazarus taxa: Animals that were previously considered extinct, which eventually appeared later in fossil records, or still there today (through National Geographic).

So, do you want to believe or not it’s up to you. This is not the first time a frightening sea creature has been found to have been able to live in fresh water after being classified as limited to salt water. It is likely that ancient wild animals have survived millions of years past their expiration dates may not be more realistic, but the closer we are with full stories about how life on our planet evolves and lives, even better – even if we lose some high fairy tales and myths Street.
